    Review for Immortals: The Darkening
    Author: Robin T. Popp

Reviewer Comments: Immortals: The Darkening picks up the story where Immortals: The Calling left us and like the previous book takes us on an intense journey as forces of good and evil fight to the death. Popp seamlessly brings us into the world that Jennifer Ashley opened to readers in the first book in the series. Popp takes the reins and runs giving us a paranormal fantasy with twists and turns and plenty of action.

Darius is an Immortal and when the calling comes he is suppose to leave his home at Ravenscroft in the immortal realm and return to earth to help those in need. He has been waiting for 700 years for the calling to happen again, only to be pulled back into the immortal realm because his mother Sekhmet has taken his life essence and that is enough to keep him there as a prisoner. So Darius takes matters into his own hands and breaks the orb that she keeps around her neck and finally is able to return to earth to help. Only his mother casts an incomplete spell on him before he goes to earth.

Bounty hunter Lexi Corvin is a witch and a werewolf. She was part of the coven of witches that called the Immortals for help a few weeks ago. Now during a routine chase through the back alley’s of New York City a man appears out of nowhere, imagine her surprise when she realizes that he is one of the Immortals, Darius. She explains that they need the Immortals help to fight a very strong demon who has taken Darius’ brother Tain and help her for nearly 700 years. Soon Lexi and Darius are thrown into a conflict of mythic proportions.

Immortals: The Darkening is a great continuation of the immortals series and I truly enjoyed this action packed novel. With the powerful werewolf Lexi, Popp has created the perfect foil for a dark and deadly Immortal warrior. Also adding some fun to the novel, Popp has included some great characters like a Leprechaun who has lost his pot of gold and a man who hasn’t been to earth for 700 years. Popp keeps the twists and turns going with the unfinished curse that Sekhmet puts on Darius.

Central to the story is the wonderful relationship between Lexi and Darius. Popp develops it slowly and adds some great obstacles to their coming together. Immortals: The Darkening is a fast-paced read with an intriguing story that pulls the reader in from the very beginning. Popp adds her own brand of action, moving the story along and creating an exciting story that leaves the reader wanting more.
