Review for Under a Vampire Moon

Reviewer Comments: Prepare to be awed by the sheer creativity of Lynsay Sands. This is her 16th book in the Argeneau series and by this point, I really thought she had covered just about every circumstance under which a mortal can meet an immortal and fall in love. I was wrong. Once again, she uses her amazing imagination and creates another love story that keeps you reading until the very last page. I know that we all know her books are romance and can figure out how they will end, but the journey in each of them is worth the time spent reading and they are so enjoyable.

Carolyn Connor has finally managed to wrangle a divorce from her husband and found the courage to try and begin life again on her own. After spending years with a man who treated her like she was nothing and being told that she wasn’t sexy or attractive, Carolyn is having trouble moving on to another relationship. When her roommate from college suggests a Caribbean vacation, Carolyn agrees in the hopes that it will help her regain some confidence. What she doesn’t expect is to find herself uncontrollably attracted to a man she thinks is much younger than she is—thank goodness he’s gay or she would never be able to be around him.

Christian Notte arrives in St. Lucia when his mother calls him. She says it is so his band can play at the resort, but he suspects she has found someone who might be his LifeMate. He is sure of it when he meets Carolyn. What he doesn’t expect is for his cousin to tell Carolyn that he is gay. Although he understands that Carolyn thinks he is much younger than she is and is completely uncomfortable with spending any time with him or being attracted to him, Christian wishes that there was another way to make her comfortable.

What ensues between these two is comedic and hilarious. All of the things that you imagine could happen between two people in this situation does. Carolyn fights her growing attraction to her new “gay” friend while Christian tries to break down the wall that Carolyn has built around her heart. Complicating matters are both Christian’s family who can read what they are both thinking and feeling and Carolyn’s two friends—one tells her to go for it and the other tells her to stay away from Christian.

When Carolyn is striken with a mysterious illness, she has to rely on Christian to help her. Things get hotter and hotter between the two of them and Christian has to decide when to tell Carolyn the truth. Will she forgive him for lying or will she refuse to be with him?

I loved every minute of this story. Ms. Sands has such a charming way of writing and I want to meet all of her characters. I especially loved how vulnerable both Carolyn and Christian were in this novel. Love was not easy for either one of them. Carolyn has a lot of baggage that she has to cope with in order to allow herself to love Christian. Christian has to be patient and put his own needs behind Carolyn in order for her to trust him.
