Review for Mysteria Lane
Author: MaryJanice Davidson ,
Date of Review: 03/06/09

Reviewer Comments: Welcome to Mysteria where the normal is unusual and the unusual is normal. Not much upsets or distresses the good citizens of Mysteria, not the return of one of its own after a near drowning, the demon who would kill the promised child, the revenge of a witch scorned, and a witch falling for a vampire.

MaryJanice Davidson tells the story of the terrible triplets in “Disdaining Trouble”, Scornful, Derisive, and Withering. The triplets have played many a trick on the town but when Withering falls in the fountain and returns five seconds later a grown warrior woman after twelve years away. How can Thad, the pizza man, win her heart?

Susan Grant’s Story “ The Nanny Form Hell” tells the story of Shay who has been sent by Lucifer to kill the child he believes with kill him later in life. When Shay arrives in human form, she is rescued by Quad Laredo, who is an incarnation of her lover Swift River in the Ice Ages. Shay realizes she cannot kill the child as something has changed.

Gena Showalter tells the story of “The Tawdry Affair”. Gloria is a witch seeking revenge on Falon who rejected her when she went to see him for a night of sex. Gloria gets to write her own story and Falon is unimpressed until he is able to turn the table on Glory and show her how much he cares.

P.C. Cast’s story “It’s In His Kiss” tells the story of Summer and Colin. This story shows how opposites attract. Summer is all sunshine and a vegetarian. Colin, as a vampire, has to live in the dark and is a carnivore. This story tells how they overcome their opposite natures with a twist in the story.

This was a fun anthology. Each author has told a story about the normally weird or weirdly normal characters in Mysteria. There are so many different characters it was difficult to get bored with any of the stories. Fans of these authors will love the stories.

Reviewer Comments: The characters and storylines are what made this book so great. I really appreciated the way the authors worked together with the stories to make the book cohesive.

Mary Janice Davidson's story, Disdaining Troubles was the strangest in the group but I like strange so I was able to enjoy it.

The Nanny from Hell, Susan Grant's offering was fantastic. A female demon who secretly longs to be human added a little danger to this story that enhanced the erotic undertones.

Gena Showalter offered the very best story here with A Tawdry Affair. This was the most erotic and it had a human element (although it was about witches) that I loved.

PC Cast completed the series with a sensual tale pairs a fairy (my favorite paranormal character) with a vampire of all things. I loved this story and it too was extremely exciting.

I heard there was a first book connected to this one which I wasn't aware of. Reading this made me want to find that other one so I could read it.

The stories were fun, exciting and full of interesting characters. You can't go wrong with this one.
